Definition:
Document holding is nothing but the entry of number of copies of a document in library with its location details and status of availability whether document is issuable or not.
Admin can change the status of holding and select from available options like Issuable, Non Issuable, Damaged, Lost etc in this document holding section. Holding marked as Non Issuable will be available only for use inside library premises and can't be issued to user.
Example and Sample:
As an example, library has 5 copies of book "Complete C++". Now library admin will make an holding of document with five copies and define its location such as "Floor 1 -> Room 1-> Shelf 1 -> Rack 3". Out of 5, library admin can define 4 books as issuable and 1 as not issuable.
What can be achieved by Document Holding:
With this kind of holding details, library admin can keep track of each and every copy of a book and library user will be able to find the exact location of book.
Cross references:
Document issue feature uses the holding ID i.e. SKUid to issue a document to user.
